KFC Launches First Fully Plant-Based Restaurant in Ukraine

KFC has opened its first restaurant in Ukraine offering a menu entirely based on plant-based alternatives to meat, located in Blockbuster Mall, Kyiv.

The new dishes are made with mycoprotein, a protein- and fiber-rich ingredient derived from natural fungi. Mycoprotein contains no cholesterol and has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to animal meat. The recipes also include dairy products and eggs, making the menu vegetarian rather than vegan.

Highlights of the menu include Veggie Strips, Veggie Burger, Veggie Twister, Rice Box, and Veggie Strip Salad, with select items served in eco-friendly green packaging.

The restaurant’s design features green accents instead of the traditional KFC red, reflecting its plant-based concept. The company noted that the expansion of this menu across the Ukrainian KFC network—currently over 60 restaurants since 2012—will depend on customer response at the pilot location.
