Ukrainian Railways has launched a paid onboard Wi-Fi service as part of a pilot programme, with the first rollout taking place on the flagship Hutsulshchyna train No. 95/96 operating between Kyiv and Rakhiv.
The service offers high-speed internet access for the duration of the journey at a cost of 120 hryvnias per trip. Data usage is unlimited for 24 hours, with the first 5GB provided at unrestricted speeds. Passengers can also try the service free of charge for the first 10 minutes. Payment is available online via bank cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Connectivity on the pilot service is powered by Starlink, which Ukrainian Railways has previously tested on selected diplomatic services. The Wi-Fi equipment on the Hutsulshchyna train was installed by a partner company without any direct investment from the rail operator.
Ukrainian Railways said that if demand proves stable, the service will be expanded to other trains through a competitive tender process for service providers. The move follows the introduction of Wi-Fi across all 16 Intercity+ trains last year, marking a broader push to improve onboard digital services for passengers.
