Madrid awarded as Best MICE destination 2016

The Iberian Association of Business Travel Managers (IBTA) chose Madrid as “2016 Best MICE destination” at the 2016 IBTA Business Travel awards. In addition, the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB), part of the Madrid City Council, has been recognized by the Association of PCO’s of Madrid (OPC MADRID) with the prize for “Professionalism 2016”.

premios-mice-wpBoth awards are an acknowledgment to Madrid as a preferred destination for the holding of congresses, conventions and incentive trips, as well as to the work developed by the MCB in the promotion of meeting tourism in Madrid and its activities aimed at securing professional meetings for the city.

IBTA Business Travel Awards

The Business Travel Awards aim to recognize good practices among travel managers and companies working in the business tourism sector. The selection of the finalists and winners of these awards, which have several categories, was the result of a survey aimed at member travel managers. In the category of MICE destinations, IBTA members were able to choose any destination in the world, and finally the city of Madrid was the most voted.

IBTA is the largest Spanish organization of travel and business meetings. It has 900 associate members, including travel managers of private and public companies, as well as travel and meeting service providers.

OPC Madrid Awards for Professionalism

The awards promoted by OPC Madrid recognize professionalism in the meetings industry. During its five previous editions they rewarded the work of different entities from the sector, such as hotels and associations. In this edition organisers wanted to highlight the competence and professionalism of the Madrid Convention Bureau for its important work in the promotion and wining of congresses for Madrid.

OPC Madrid groups to more than 100 companies that offer their services in the area of the congresses and meetings. It aims to encourage the collaboration of the associated companies, enhance the quality of their services and project a joint brand image.
