Ukrzaliznytsia to Purchase 44 New Passenger Wagons Worth Over UAH 1.95 Million

As reported by the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine on Facebook, a new contract has been signed between Ukrzaliznytsia and “Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works” for the acquisition of 44 passenger wagons valued at more than UAH 1.95 million.

Under this new agreement, 20 sleeping cars, 12 compartment cars, 9 open-seating cars (a category of cars being purchased for the first time since 2008), and 3 cars designed for passengers with disabilities will be manufactured. These new wagons will be equipped with air conditioning, folding tables, power outlets, and USB ports for quick gadget charging, coffee makers, and modern lighting control systems. Additionally, the wagons for passengers with disabilities will have lift platforms for convenient boarding on a wheelchair.

Furthermore, the passenger compartments in the sleeping and compartment cars will be equipped with alarm systems and door-lock buttons to enhance passenger safety, and a video surveillance system is also included.

“This procurement will also allow us to replace the wagons that were unfortunately lost due to hostile shelling. We will also focus on modernizing our aging rolling stock,” said Evgen Lyashchenko, the CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia.

This investment in new passenger wagons represents a significant step forward for Ukraine’s railway system, enhancing both passenger comfort and safety while contributing to the modernization of the country’s transportation infrastructure.
