Ukrzaliznytsia Expands Rail Links to Europe

A new passenger train timetable introduced by Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) came into force on 14 December 2025, bringing a major expansion of international rail connections. Under the updated schedule, the number of rail routes linking Ukraine with European Union countries has increased from 11 to 17, significantly improving access to long-distance destinations across Europe.

The revised timetable is designed to allow passengers from eastern, central, and southern Ukraine to reach far-flung European cities with just one comfortable transfer, either at the border or within Poland. Ukrzaliznytsia says the changes are aimed at making international rail travel more seamless and competitive with other modes of transport.

Connecting eastern and central Ukraine with Austria, Germany, and Czechia

A cornerstone of the expanded network is train No. 63/64 “Oberih”, operating on the Kharkiv – Kyiv – Przemyśl route. This service is now a key hub for onward connections with European trains operated by PKP Intercity and ÖBB.

One of the flagship options is the Kharkiv–Munich corridor, achievable with a single transfer in Przemyśl. Passengers travelling from Kharkiv, Poltava, Kyiv, or Lviv can connect directly to trains bound for Vienna, Prague, Salzburg, and Munich.

The eastbound service departs Kharkiv at 23:50 and arrives in Przemyśl at 16:59, with a connection to EN 417 / EC 40417 departing at 17:54. Arrival times in the EU include Vienna at 05:25, Prague at 07:46, Salzburg at 08:30, and Munich at 10:24. Sleeping cars are available throughout the Ukrainian section of the journey, adding comfort to long-distance travel.

The same Kharkiv–Przemyśl service also enables a one-transfer journey to Berlin. In Przemyśl, passengers can board EC 430, departing at 18:54 and arriving in Berlin at 06:12. This train also includes through coaches to Szczecin and Świnoujście, via Kraków, Wrocław, and Poznań.

New options from the Dnipro region to Western Europe

The updated timetable also enhances international access for passengers from Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro, opening up new westbound routes.

One example is the Zaporizhzhia–Berlin connection via train No. 31/32 Zaporizhzhia – Dnipro – Przemyśl. The service departs Zaporizhzhia at 14:14 and arrives in Przemyśl at 08:30, where passengers can transfer to EC 58 Galicja at 09:09, reaching Berlin at 19:11.

From Dnipro, passengers can now travel to Warsaw or Berlin using train No. 119 Dnipro – Kyiv – Chełm. The train departs Dnipro at 22:55 and arrives in Chełm at 17:52, with onward connections on IC 440 to Warsaw, arriving at 21:11, or Berlin, arriving at 06:15.

Additional daily service to Poland

Ukrzaliznytsia has also highlighted the daily operation of train No. 93/94 Kharkiv – Kyiv – Chełm, which departs Kharkiv at 16:56. This route provides a convenient gateway for onward rail travel within Poland.

With the expanded timetable, Ukrzaliznytsia is positioning rail as a key link between Ukraine and the EU, offering passengers more choice, fewer transfers, and improved access to major European transport hubs.
