Traffic at Kharkiv International Airport Rises

Kharkiv International Airport’s passenger traffic rose by 2% year-on-year in March 2021 to 54,900 people. It was the first increase registered since the quarantine was imposed: 48,600 passengers used international flights, 6% up from 45,800 in March 2020; meanwhile, domestic flights carried 6,300 passengers against 7,800 over the same month last year.

Flight traffic increased, too. The airport saw 285 departures in March 2021, 12% up y-o-y from 254 in March 2020. Sharm El Sheikh, Istanbul, Kyiv, Hurghada, and Berlin were the top destinations this month.

May holidays and summer outlook

Increasingly more countries have been starting to admit tourists and ease restrictions. During the May holidays, the following tourist destinations will be available: Batumi and Tbilisi (Georgia), Istanbul (Turkey), and Larnaca (Cyprus). Tickets are already available for purchase. Charter flights to Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, and Nevsehir (Turkey), Tivat (Montenegro), Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) are also in the plans.

Summer trips on all these routes can be safely planned. Additionally, SkyUp Airlines will carry scheduled flights to Tirana (Albania) starting 31 May, those to Varna (Bulgaria) starting 12 June, and to Burgas (Bulgaria) starting 10 July. Also, the Ukrainian carrier will launch flights to Odesa on 27 May, with one-way ticket prices starting at UAH 605.
