LOT Polish Airlines has announced its readiness to resume regular flights to Ukraine within six weeks of achieving a sustainable peace and receiving official confirmation that flying conditions are safe.
The announcement was made during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome, and marks a pivotal step toward re-establishing air connectivity between Poland and Ukraine after more than three years of suspended service.
Kyiv and Lviv First to Reconnect
Kyiv and Lviv will be the first cities to welcome back LOT’s scheduled flights. The airline also plans to expand its network to other Ukrainian cities, depending on the restoration of their aviation infrastructure.
“We are determined to be the airline of choice for Ukraine’s recovery — connecting its people, economy, and future with the rest of the world,” said Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines.
A Return to Pre-War Strength
Before the war, LOT was a major player in Ukraine’s air travel market, operating up to 90 flights per week to six cities. Ukrainian routes accounted for a quarter of LOT’s total international transit traffic. The airline’s return signals not just a restoration of routes, but a reconnection of economies and communities.
To support the renewed service, LOT plans to dedicate up to four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, capable of transporting up to 800,000 passengers annually. The airline is especially targeting the 1.5 million Ukrainians currently residing in Poland, many of whom rely on convenient air links for work and family travel.
More Than Warsaw
In addition to routes from Warsaw, LOT’s strategy includes launching regional flights from other major Polish cities, creating a more robust and decentralized travel network tailored to Ukraine’s rebuilding needs.
