The first section of a new cross-border tourist route linking Ukraine with several EU countries has officially opened in western Ukraine, regional governor Myroslav Biletskyi announced.
So far, 55 kilometers of the planned 395-kilometer Ukrainian segment have been completed. The trail begins near the source of the Chorna Tysa River, close to the Okole Pass, with the first stretch connecting the villages of Ust-Chorna and Yasinia.
Along this opening section, visitors will find bike parking, campsites, observation decks, and rest areas.
The route will feature two tracks:
Main route — following forest roads, suitable for touring bicycles.
Mountain route — tracing hiking paths, designed for mountain bikes.
The project is positioned as a place for physical and psychological recovery, particularly for war veterans and civilians affected by the conflict.
In the future, the trail will extend into Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland, with a joint working group already established. The international portion will be roughly the same length as the Ukrainian section, creating a continuous Carpathian loop for travelers that crosses multiple borders.
