Ukraine has achieved a new milestone in global education rankings. According to the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, twenty-two Ukrainian universities have made it onto the list of the world’s best institutions – five more than last year.
The World University Rankings, one of the most respected evaluations of higher education worldwide, assessed a total of 3,118 universities this year. Sumy State University retained its position as the top-ranked Ukrainian institution, placed in the 1001–1200 range globally.
Ternopil National Medical University, named after I. Horbachevsk,y followed in the 1201–1500 range, while twenty other Ukrainian universities were listed in the 1501+ bracket. Among them are O.O. Bohomolets National Medical University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Kharkiv Aviation Institute, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Pirogov Vinnytsia National Medical University, Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
On the global stage, the University of Oxford remains the world leader for the tenth consecutive year. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology secured second place, while Princeton and Cambridge share third. Harvard University, which ranked third last year, now ties for fifth place with Stanford.
For Ukraine, this year’s results mark continued progress in international recognition, reflecting growing academic performance, research output, and global engagement despite ongoing challenges.
