Ivano-Frankivsk Bans E-Scooters and E-Bikes in City Center

In a move aimed at improving pedestrian safety, the city of Ivano-Frankivsk has prohibited the use of electric scooters, e-bikes, and other individual electric transport vehicles in its downtown area. The decision was announced by Deputy Mayor Mykhailo Smushak, following a resolution by the city’s Road Safety Commission.

The ban will apply to the following streets: Sichovykh Striltsiv, Hetman Mazepa, Halytska, Stanyslavska, Sheremeta, Virmenska, Levko Lukianenko, Hrushevskoho, and Vahylevycha. Authorities plan to install road signs at all entrances to these zones, signaling the prohibition of individual electric transport and enforcing speed limits.

Companies offering e-scooter rentals are required to block their devices in the restricted areas. Additionally, these companies must automatically limit speeds to 10–15 km/h in areas adjacent to pedestrian zones.

To ensure compliance, the patrol police and the municipal inspection service “Dobrodiy” will increase monitoring in the affected areas. The city government will also launch an information campaign under the slogan: “Pedestrian Zone – for People, Not Transport!”

Deputy Mayor Smushak emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader effort to make the city center safer and more comfortable for pedestrians, encouraging residents and visitors to enjoy the streets without the risk of accidents involving electric transport.
