RegioJet to Launch Trains from Ukraine to Germany

RegioJet plans to launch two direct trains from Ukraine to Germany.

This statement was made by the founder of RegioJet, Radim Jančura, who noted that the launch of the Kyiv-Berlin and Kyiv-Hannover routes is scheduled for 2024, according to Forbes Ukraine.

“In 2024, we plan to launch the Kyiv-Berlin and Kyiv-Hannover routes in partnership with Ukrzaliznytsia, via Leipzig and Dresden. Our expectations for this project are very optimistic, as more Ukrainians travel to Germany than to the Czech Republic,” Jančura emphasized.

The company also plans to launch a new route from Prague to Chop and obtain the opportunity for its trains to enter Mostyska-2 station in Lviv Oblast.

RegioJet also has plans to electrify the Chop-Mukachevo section, build a passenger platform, and a pedestrian bridge at Mostyska-2 station.

The Kyiv-Berlin train operated until 2012. However, at that time, the German railway imposed commercial conditions that increased the cost of train travel through German territory, making the route unprofitable. In the summer of 2022, the German railway operator Deutsche Bahn conducted an experiment by introducing special fare tickets for the trains.

Czech carrier RegioJet is launching regular railway connections from Prague to Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, and Kharkiv
