Record Passenger Traffic at Kharkiv International Airport

In August 2021, Kharkiv International Airport handled a record number of passengers since its reconstruction in 2012 despite quarantine restrictions. Overall, 157 thousand people used the airport’s services, 12% up from the pre-quarantine 2019. International passenger traffic amounted to 145,2 thousand (23% up).

The airport saw 637 departures in August 2021, 21% up from 2019. Of the total, 433 were international and 204 domestic. The most popular destinations were Antalya, Istanbul, Tivat, Boryspil, and Bodrum.

Summer figures

In summer, the airport showed positive dynamics, rebounding to pre-quarantine levels and even exceeding them. Summer flights carried 432 thousand people in total, 9% up from 2019, mainly on higher international traffic. Overall, 1,837 departures were seen in summer, 17% up from the pre-quarantine 2019. Domestic flights increased by 38%, and international ones by 9%. The top destination list was the same as in August. Most flights from Kharkiv were bound to Antalya, Istanbul, Boryspil, Tivat, Bodrum, Dalaman, Sharm El Sheikh, Batumi, Larnaca, and Odesa.
