Boryspil Airport, Ukraine’s main international gateway, will receive new technical support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) from 2025 to 2028. This assistance is part of a broader project aimed at improving safety, service, and operational efficiency at the country’s top airport.
The KOICA tech aid package includes the supply of advanced airport information systems such as AODB (Airport Operational Database) and AOC (Airport Operations Center). These systems play a key role in managing flight data, schedules, and communication between airport teams. The upgrades will bring Boryspil closer to international standards and help streamline operations for both passengers and staff.
The total value of this tender is set at $1.1 million. The selection process is already underway, and KOICA is inviting experts to participate, particularly in choosing local suppliers for the equipment. According to the announcement posted on KOICA’s website, selected specialists will support the project through its completion in 2028.
The tech aid program is part of KOICA’s international development efforts and will be fully funded by the government of South Korea. The goal is to support Ukraine’s civil aviation sector during a time of rebuilding and modernization. Boryspil’s upgrade is included in Ukraine’s new “Strategy for the Development of Civil Aviation and the Use of Ukrainian Airspace,” which outlines progress targets through 2030.
In addition to KOICA’s involvement, Ukraine’s development strategy notes plans for support from airports in other partner countries. This may include the donation of transport vehicles and specialized technical equipment to selected Ukrainian airports.
The modernization of Boryspil will enhance its role as a key transport hub in Eastern Europe. With improved information systems, the airport will be able to offer better service to travelers and handle growing flight activity once regular operations resume. Navigation safety will also improve thanks to the upgraded data systems and coordination tools.
The partnership between KOICA and Boryspil is part of a long-term vision to transform Ukrainian air travel infrastructure. It combines international expertise with local cooperation, aiming to create a safer, more reliable, and efficient airport experience for millions of future passengers.
