Ukrzaliznytsia drink prices on long-distance trains are getting their first update since 2018. Starting June 18, 2025, passengers will pay more for tea, coffee, and water onboard Ukrainian trains. The national railway company explains this price increase as a response to rising operational costs.
The most noticeable change is the price of the classic glass of black tea, which has doubled from 10 to 20 UAH. Similar adjustments have been made to the prices of instant coffee, 3-in-1 coffee mix, and both still and sparkling bottled water. These popular drinks now cost up to 20 UAH.
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes that prices remain unchanged for beverages sold on Intercity+ high-speed trains. Hot meal prices on select long-distance trains included in a pilot project also remain the same.
Importantly, this adjustment applies only to beverage pricing. Passenger ticket prices in the social fare segment have not changed since the start of the full-scale war, and no fare increase has been announced in this context.
According to the railway company, the price increase reflects the reality of rising expenses over the past six years. The costs of raw materials, energy, and logistics have all gone up, alongside general inflation. Still, Ukrzaliznytsia notes that even the updated price of a cup of tea is significantly lower than what travelers would pay for a similar drink at most cafés.
Despite the higher costs, passengers still have a wide selection to choose from. Three varieties of specialty tea, capsule coffee, and drip coffee remain available on many routes, along with an updated snack menu. On certain domestic and international trains, passengers can also enjoy full lunches, kids’ meals, and desserts curated by Ukrainian chef Yevhen Klopotenko, as part of a food service pilot program.
